SUNDAY@SUNSET TALK
Chatral Rinpoche, now 98 years old, is considered by many to be a living buddha. His teachings on compassion have inspired generations of practitioners, including some of the most notable Buddhist teachers alive today.
Dharamshala Earthville Institute (DEVI) invites you to our Sunday@Sunset speaker series to hear and discuss Chatral Rinpoche’s teachings with special guest Geshe Thupten Phelgye, a Buddhist teacher and member of parliament (CTA), who will be joined by Zach Larson, editor of the book Compassionate Action (2009, Shechen Publications). Geshe Phelgye will shine a light on Chatral Rinpoche’s insights into the practice of compassion, with particular emphasis on his teachings urging all of us to consider that, to practice of compassion universally, that means we must refrain from consuming animal-based foods.
Note: This public talk and discussion was the final formal educational event at Earthville’s first venue, Dharamshala Earthville Institute (DEVI), which was based at KhanaNirvana Community Café in McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh, India, and operated from 1997 until 2012. Chatral Rinpoche died December 30, 2015. Geshe Phelgye now lives and teaches in the US (see UniversalCompassion.org). This event page is preserved here as a reminder of where we began.
